Spring Entertaining

We’re excited about the arrival of spring and love the idea of celebrating the sunny days and longer evenings by entertaining family and friends. Shake off winter and refresh your home ready to welcome guests and prepare a delicious menu to share. Read on for our warm weather dinner party inspiration and discover a guide to hosting at home with ease and enjoyment.

Set The Scene

Start by planning your evening’s journey – for example, you might like to serve an aperitif or cocktail in the garden, followed by dinner inside or outside on the deck followed by dessert and coffee (or more drinks) in your living room. This will give you an idea of which spaces to refresh and style ready to impress your guests. For ambience, light fragrant candles and play soothing music such as Norah Jones. When you’re ready to start your menu prep, make the time spent in your kitchen more enjoyable by adorning your chefs station with beautiful tea towels, oven gloves and aprons. Our Juniper Kitchen collection is beautiful for spring and the tea towel set features a delicious cocktail recipe, perfect to begin your evening with.

The Table

Weather permitting, we’re hosting our dinner parties outside to enjoy the warm spring air and lighter evenings. A beautiful, comfortable and stylish table will encourage your guests to stay seated, which makes serving simpler (and equals less clean-up fuss for you!). Start your table styling with beautiful table linens. Try a relaxed linen table runner with placemats and napkins or an elegant generous sized linen tablecloth with coordinating napkins. This spring we’re mixing our Loft Linen bluebell tablecloth with pretty Kowhai Garden napkins. Finish decorating your table with fragrant candles, rustic jugs or glass vases of seasonal blooms or fresh herbs and scatter a selection of dried citrus slices from our Ruby Seeto x Starship 2022 Tea Towel, for beautiful table scaping.

The Drinks

Prepare a drinks station ready for your guests which can be set up on a tray in the garden, on the kitchen island or on your dining room sideboard. Line up glassware, a bowl of sliced lemons, fresh mint or herbs, a bucket of ice, bottles of fizzy water (and other non-alcoholic options) along with any mixers or spirits you need to make your evening run smoothly.

Welcome your guests with a delicious and refreshing drink to enjoy while you finish preparing the main course. The Gin Fizz recipe featured on our Juniper Kitchen Set of 3 Tea Towels will offer easy aperitif inspiration for when hosting at home.

The Menu

Celebrate the arrival of spring by serving a collection of fresh, seasonal dishes. Our favourite spring-time dinner spread includes a tasty dish of burrata and tomato, roasted cauliflower and fresh salad greens alongside your protein of choice. We prefer to leave each dish on the table to allow guests to come back for as many servings as they please. For dessert we love making the most of citrus which is at it’s best in early spring. Try a lemon tart with a dollop of coconut ice cream or a citrus upside down cake with a zingy grapefuit sorbet. Decorate your desserts using the pretty citrus slices from Ruby’s Starship Tea Towel recipe.

Your Outfit

To feel your best on the evening, wear an ensemble which is comfortable, stylish and allows room for a few courses of delicious food. We’re dressing ‘smart casual’ in our black Voyager Linen Shirt (a practical colour to hide any potential stains from food prep) with our blue Voyager Linen Pants. Once the weather’s warm enough, we’re looking forward to wearing our Voyager Linen Tier Dress with it’s full, floaty hem for the perfect amount of evening drama.
