Buying the best for your bed

Bedding Essentials

A good nights' sleep is essential for our wellbeing, so we recommend making your bed with the best bedding essentials you can afford. Start from the foundation with a bed skirt or valance to dress your bed base. Add a breathable mattress topper made from either certified organic cotton for summer or a luxurious feather and down topper for winter for cushioning comfort all night long. Layer a washable cotton mattress protector over the topper, to keep your base layers fresher for longer.

Duvet Inners

It’s worth investing in quality, well-made duvet inners that will last for years to come. We carefully source the best natural fibres for our bedding NZ range. Our GOTS certified organic cotton duvet inners are designed for the warmer months of spring and summer. Perfect for the cooler months and colder climes, our ethically sourced duck and goose feather and down duvet inners are lofty and luxurious. Discover beautiful quality duvet inners that are comfortable, sustainable and perfect for all the beds in your home.

Plump Your Pillows

Whether you’re a side sleeper, a back sleeper or a restless sleeper, finding the right pillow is key to a good nights’ sleep. It’s important to have a pillow that offers good support for your head and neck while you sleep, but ultimately it’s about personal comfort. Our range of Downtime pillows made from ethically harvested duck and goose feather and down include a firm style, a medium support and a soft ‘light as a feather’ goose pillow.

Layered Styling with Accessories

Complete your bed with beautiful bed covers, elegant quilts, cosy blankets and throws. Made from natural fabrics in colours and patterns to suit all interiors and designed to easily coordinate with our bed linen collections. For stylish timeless layers, choose from classic waffle blankets, plush velvet quilts and soft cotton quilts to use in every season.

NZ Bed Linen FAQs

What is linen and bedding?

The term linen has two meanings. Linen can mean general bedding such as sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers made from any fabric. This term is also used when referring to your ‘linen cupboard’ when you store your bedding. Linen is also a type of fabric woven from linen fibre to create bedding that is beautiful, breathable and comfortable. Bedding is a broader term than linen, which encompasses all the items you would use to make your bed including fitted sheets, flat sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, quilts, bedspreads, comforters, bed covers, bed skirts, valances, mattress toppers, mattress protectors, pillow inners and duvet inners.

What is bed linen?

Bed linen is a general term which covers all the types of bedding you would use on your bed. Bed linen includes fitted sheets, flat sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, quilts, bedspreads, comforters, bed covers, bed skirts, valances, mattress toppers, mattress protectors, pillow inners and duvet inners.

Which bed linen is best?

The best bed linen is crafted from high quality, natural fabrics using sustainable methods and is designed to last. Bed linen that is made from high thread count fabrics such as Egyptian cotton and cotton sateen are often thought of as the best bed linen and feel luxurious to sleep in. A high thread count is considered 750 thread count and above which means the threads are tightly woven to create a heavier weight fabric.

How to care for your bed linen?

Our bedding is made from beautiful natural fabrics which makes them easy to care for. We recommend washing all our duvet covers, pillowcases and sheets (whether they are made from cotton, organic cotton, cotton sateen or linen) in a cold machine wash using a gentle laundry detergent. Avoid using fabric softeners and do not use bleach. Turn delicate items inside out for laundering to help protect any embroidery detail. Line dry in the shade where possible as too much sunlight will ‘cook’ your bed linen making it difficult to iron and will fade coloured prints. Warm iron.

All our bedding has specific laundering and care instructions to follow on the reverse side of the Wallace Cotton label, which is stitched into the seam of every bed linen product. Duvet inners, pillow inners and quilts require specific laundering and are sometimes dry clean only.
