Styling Neutrals in the Bedroom

08 Aug, 2023

Neutral + Noteworthy

This season we’re gravitating towards netural colours that are restful, timeless and keep your bedroom looking fresh and clean. A neutral colour is any colour that has been muted so it becomes a less intense hue without much saturation. Neutral colours are easy to work with and sit comfortably alongside bolder tones and pops of brighter colour.

Our in-house stylist Michelle loves working with neutrals to create bedrooms that evoke blissful slumber. Read on to discover our tips for styling your bedroom with neutrals and find out how to book a complimentary consultation with our Auckland based stylist.

Monochromatic Styling

To create a simpler, more minimalist look, use the principles of monochromatic styling in your bedroom. Monochromatic styling is a colour scheme based on using hues, tones, shades and tints of only one colour. Choose the main colour for your bedroom or bed linen and then only use variations in depth of that colour, plus white in your styling and accessories to achieve this look.

We love the soft neutral sage of our Loft Linen Willow duvet cover set, a tranquil hue that invites relaxation. Style with our Purity green stripe sheets for coordinating interest, or with Loft Linen sheets in matching willow or soft white.

Accessorising a Neutral Bedroom

For a cohesive and comforting look, add beautiful layering using soft textures in a similar colour palette. Choose a classic quilt or a waffle blanket (or both) along with a knitted throw and cushions to complement your colour scheme. Michelle recommends our Unity Quilt for a fresh white accent or the soft natural of our chambray waffle blanket. Choose cushions from our Loft Linen collection in muted and complementary hues for visual depth and comfort.

Pop of Colour

If you like the idea of a calm sleep sanctuary but also love bolder colours, start with a neutral palette as your base then add brighter colours in your accessories. Choose cushions and throws in matching but deeper colours or mix it up with vibrant velvets and chunky textures. For more interest, consider adding pattern to your styling with botanical prints or florals.
