Starship, Ruby Seeto and Wallace Cotton
Ruby Seeto has been working with Wallace Cotton since 2009, when she was an 11 year old cancer survivor, designing colourful tea towels to raise funds for Starship, our national children’s hospital. They have become collectors’ items over the years and her new designs are always eagerly anticipated.
Every year, Ruby creates a new design which is produced and sold by Wallace Cotton. $6 from the sale of every tea towel and $4 from the sale of every washcloth set is donated directly to the Starship Foundation. Together we have raised more than $500,000 through the sale of Ruby’s tea towels and washcloths. These funds have supported improvements to the Oncology, Medical Specialties, Neurology and Heart wards as well as the establishment of an ovarian cryopreservation banking protocol to benefit young cancer patients.
Proceeds from Ruby’s new Nana Una’s Carrot Cake tea towel and washcloths, will fund a full time Play Specialist at Starship. Hospital Play Specialists work with patients and families to create a space in which children and youth can be actively involved in their care, creating positive coping strategies and experiences which promote a sense of confidence.
Live Ocean and Wallace Cotton
Summer 2020 saw the launch of our partnership with Live Ocean, a local charity raising funds for maritime conservation projects in New Zealand waters. Bill and Paula Wallace have always enjoyed a strong connection with the sea and were inspired by the projects that Live Ocean have undertaken to raise awareness of our oceanic environment. We’re excited to continue our support of Live Ocean this summer with another fund raising opportunity for our community to be involved in.READ MORE
