What is cotton percale?

Our Heirloom bedding is made from pure cotton; 375 thread count pure cotton percale to be exact. The term ‘percale’ refers to the square weave created by weaving threads vertically and horizontally. This results in a fabric that is strong in both directions making it perfect for sheeting. The thread count is a way of measuring the number of threads in a square inch of fabric. The higher the number, the denser and more tightly woven a fabric is. The lower the thread count (such as 250) indicates a lighter weight and more breathable fabric.

How to care for Heirloom bedding

Caring for your sheets and pillowcases properly will keep them looking and feeling beautiful for longer. Follow our laundering tips below and learn more in our handy Fabric Care Guides.

Cold machine wash with mild laundry powder or liquid. Line dry in shade or tumble dry on warm heat. Warm iron. Do not soak. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners. Bleach can weaken fabric, and fabric softener contains silicone which creates a waterproof coating on textiles. Top Tip – adding 2 teaspoons of baking soda to your wash will keep your whites pristine.
